Once upon a time, there were three little pigs.
Then the wolf ate them.
THE END.
“This story is too short! I want a longer one!”
In his adorable counting book, Davide Cali has an unseen and increasingly exasperated reader asking for a longer and longer story as the storyteller keeps adding pigs and having the unbothered wolf gobble them up.
Bits and Pieces: The little piggies are drawn on an abacus! I mean. What?! Marrianna must be the most inventive person. What an imagination! At no point does the use of the abacus seem forced, it totally works. The artwork in this book was rendered with illustrations, photographs and a very brave abacus.
Not Sure About: Sometimes primary colors with a lot of red bother me. Is that a critique? No. Just a personal preference.
Favorite Part: I liked all the wolf’s disguises. Like a raincoat!
